The Union for Concerned Scientists (uscusa.org), whom we support, wrote a newsletter advising: In addition to sheltering more than half of the planet's species and providing benefits as clean drinking water, forests plat a major role in climate change: they store carbon - the key ingredient in CO2. When forests are burned, cleared or otherwise degraded, their stored carbon is released into the atmosphere. We can reduce global warming if we put more forests into protected preserves and make sure that areas which are harvested are done so wisely.

Conventional wood frame houses and the construction industry are regrettably the biggest causes of global warming (more than all the power plants combined!).
